BOK Tower Gardens
Master Plan
Lake Wales, Florida

Senior leadership of this National Historic Landmark property selected Studio Outside and David Sacks, RLA, to facilitate a team-based collaborative exploration of the Gardens’ future. The heart of the planning process involved respecting founder Edward Bok’s and landscape architect Olmsted’s early Twentieth Century landscape while seamlessly integrating it with the non-historic parts of the property. The design team worked closely with Board members, staff, and volunteers to explore ways of enhancing and re-envisioning the non-historic areas, increasing visitation, retaining relevance, and generating on-site revenue.

A particular focus was aligning the master site plan with the development case statement to optimize the Gardens’ opportunities for a successful fund-raising campaign.
