Allaso, Ranch
Wood County, Texas

Situated in the East Texas Piney Woods, the Allaso Ranch Youth Camp and Retreat Center core focus is the provision of meaningful and engaging experiences for its campers. Operated by Fellowship Church, this camp supports up to 350 overnight visitors weekly, offering programs for all ages of campers. The facilities are uniquely designed to accommodate the hilly terrain of this region, utilizing a series of decks, retaining walls, and piers to float over the landscape thereby minimizing the disturbance of the development footprint. An important piece of the site design was a hierarchy of social spaces that foster mission delivery for casual interactions of different size groups – from one-on-one spaces to areas that support the entire camp population. Elevated deck areas are connected by a series of boardwalks that create unique community spaces within the canopy of the existing forest. Experience of Mike Fraze, Andrew Duggan, Brian Halsell, and Ellen Calhoun while at mesa.
