The design team worked in direct collaboration with Balcones Canyonlands Preserve staff to develop a plan rooted in the BCP mission to preserve and manage Travis County’s diverse and unique native ecosystems. This collaboration included a series of workshops related to site analysis, programming, architectural scenarios, and sustainability strategies. The workshop input was combined and organized into a master plan that appreciates the various geological, environmental, and cultural overlays of the site. The result is a design that puts environmental stewardship and sustainability at the forefront, and interfaces with the greater public as an educational and recreational resource.
