Eagle Family Plaza
at The Dallas Museum of Art
Dallas, Texas
In a joint partnership, Studio Outside and Hocker Design Group have teamed together to create a beautiful new motor court and outdoor café experience. Overlooking the new Woodall Rodgers Park, the Museum’s north entrance is poised to actively engage both the increased pedestrian traffic from the Park, as well as improve the vehicular circulation to the Museum while creating an intimate new exterior dining for Dallas. The new motor court entrance drive has been realigned to be on axis with the below grade garage, creating the opportunity for a small sculpture park and café space outside the existing Museum restaurant. This dining space is delineated by an ipe wood deck populated with lounge furniture and café seating that gives visitors and patrons a relaxing venue to eat and drink under the shade of a new vine covered steel arbor structure. A refreshed planting concept provides order and balance to the site in harmony with the strict grid established by the buildings architecture.
