Fort Wilderness
NORTHWOODS, WISCONSIN
Studio Outside is currently working with a faith-based camp in the Northwoods of Wisconsin in devising a new master plan. The organization’s deep tradition and relationship with the land have built a legacy that has continued to grow while holding onto cherished traditions. The planning process is developing a strategy for a recent new land acquisition as well as reorganization of existing facilities over time. Preservation of natural areas is core to the mission, and experiences of the lake, bog, forest, and open areas create a full immersion in the Northwoods ecosystem. The plan fosters and expands year-round activities that range from snowshoe trails to a lakeside water slide, along with a full slate of adventure programming. The hierarchy of lodging options responds to interests from a variety of camper groups and a new dining hall will serve future expanded camp capacity.
