marsh botanical garden
new haven, connecticut
The Marsh Botanical Garden contains remnants of the landscape designed by Beatrix Farrand. Her design featured a “systematic garden,” which provided guests with a living demonstration of the evolution of plants. These roots in scientific interpretation create an exciting framework to re-imagine how the garden can connect to today’s Science Hill and to its historic Farrand design. Studio Outside and the design team are currently in process of strategy workshops to prioritize the planning vision. The master plan will restore the gardens and honor Beatrix Farrand’s legacy.
The Garden will connect sustainability initiatives across the campus in a meaningful way and to celebrate the research of students and faculty by making that research legible to the local community and greater student body.
