Peachtree Center
Atlanta, Georgia
The primary goal in the design of the plaza at Peachtree Center was to recapture a sense of invitation from Peachtree Street. Accessible, open, and clear pathways into the plaza and gallery levels were prioritized, and linear hardscape patterns, lighting elements, and planter forms work to “pull people in.” Renovation of both the plaza and gallery levels grants the flexibility and capacity to accommodate a range of programming. The typical user is able to engage with existing sculptures alongside new art displays, and return for community-wide cultural events. Spaces outside of the main courtyard are designed to support large scale events and simultaneously accommodate the everyday user—commuters, employees, residents, gym members, local lunch breakers, and out-of-town visitors.
