Forum Cuernavaca
Cuernavaca, Morelos, mexico
This former textile and sewing factory provides a new life as it is transformed into a vibrant retail and entertainment destination at Forum Cuernavaca. Studio Outside was part of a design team that helped the developer, GICSA, to preserve the structure of the original factory as much as possible. The landscape incorporates the existing concrete buildings and steel framework by guiding you through a series of interconnected outdoor spaces. The water towers were preserved and repurposed — not only as a reminder of its history, but as a landmark for both vehicular and pedestrian visitors as well. The shopping center is on-structure featuring a series of fountains, green lawns, and ample seating with a blend of planters and shade to allow visitors to socialize and feel connected to the outdoors.
