The Exchange
Raleigh, North Carolina
Studio Outside collaborated with Humphreys & Partners Architects to rethink the mixed-use development model. Rather than creating a park at the center of the project as initially suggested, the landscape architect helped mold the idea of the development sitting within the park. The challenging grading requirements led to many creative and artful solutions, including the notion of a continuous water feature across the entire project, eventually connecting to an existing stream. The evident transition from an urban district to a densely vegetated environment creates an experience that can be enjoyed by retail-goers, businessmen, and residents alike.
